Refund Policy

Last updated: April 2026. Effective from launch.

We understand that mistakes happen. This policy explains when refunds are available and how to request one.

General policy

Donations are generally non-refundable. When you make a donation through BharatDonate, the funds are transferred to the NGO promptly. Once an NGO has received and acknowledged the donation, we cannot recover those funds.

Eligible refunds

We will issue a full refund in the following circumstances:

Technical error

If your donation was processed twice due to a technical failure, we will refund the duplicate charge in full.

Payment captured but not recorded

If your bank was charged but the donation was not confirmed in our system, we will investigate and issue a refund within 7 working days.

NGO de-listing before transfer

If a donation was made to an NGO that was removed from the platform before the funds were transferred, a full refund will be issued.

Exceptional circumstances

Outside of the above, we may consider refund requests in exceptional circumstances — for example, a donation made under clear mistake within 2 hours of the transaction. These are reviewed case by case. We cannot guarantee approval and are not obligated to refund in these cases.

How to request a refund

Email refunds@bharatdonate.org with:

  • Your name and registered email address
  • The transaction ID or donation reference number
  • The amount and date of the donation
  • A brief description of the issue

We aim to respond within 2 business days. Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5–7 working days.

80G receipt on refunds

If a refund is issued and an 80G receipt was generated, the certificate becomes invalid. You must not use it for tax deduction purposes. We will notify you when a refund nullifies an 80G certificate.
